Toole, Judith. “Johnson’s Promise to Resign Fails to Satisfy Caucus.” Robesonian 17 June 1992: 1A.
County school superintendent William Johnson had promised to resign when his contract ends in June, 1993; but Robeson County Black Caucus spokesperson Joy Johnson requested, for the sixth time, that Johnson’s contract be terminated immediately. The Caucus presented the school board with statistics on racial inequities in hiring and salaries in the school system. Several other recommendations are listed.
