This article details the Lumbee Tribe Supreme Court’s decision to have a closed hearing for the alleged ethics violations of Councilman Larry Townsend. There is a petition on the internet asking for the overturn of the original ruling that the councilman was guilty of these violations. Only the plaintiff, another councilman, and a few members of the Ethics Committee are allowed to be present at the hearing, something that has greatly upset the local community.
