Citation:

Sneed, Richard. “Principal Chief’s Report- Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017.” Cherokee One Feather [Cherokee, NC]. September 5, 2017.

Annotation:

Richard Sneed, principal chief for the Cherokee tribe, acknowledges the Lumbee recognition bill gaining traction in Congress. If the bill passes, Sneed remarks that it will have “staggering implications” for the Cherokee because the “increase in competition for federal funding will grow exponentially” (para. 2).  The Lumbee tribe would receive funding for projects such as housing and roads, which could affect how much federal funding the Cherokee tribe receives.
