This article discusses how the Lumbee Tribe Supreme Court is opening the trial of Councilman Larry Townsend to the Public. He was accused of ethics violations because of his wife, Rose Marie Lowry-Townsend, is the director of tribal Youth Services. Originally, the Ethics Committee ruled that Townsend was prohibited from performing certain responsibilities as a councilman but, after protests from the community and an online petition with 700 signatures, the trial has been opened up.
