Discusses the Alpha Pi Omega Sorority, formed in 1994 by four Lumbee and Coharie women at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  The women felt isolated on campus and needed a support network.  The principles guiding this sorority for Native American women are traditionalism, spirituality, contemporary issues, and education.  Describes their unique pledging and initiation practices, their philanthropic projects, and their focus on living a balanced life.
