Travis, Scott. “Activist lawyer's legacy is still felt in Robeson.” Fayetteville Observer-Times 26 March 1998.

Annotation:

Biographical sketch of Julian Pierce, Lumbee attorney who was the first director of Lumbee River Legal Services (providing legal assistance for the poor in Robeson County). Pierce's campaign for a Superior Count judgeship was supported by people from all three races, but Pierce was murdered on March 26, 1988, five weeks before the Democratic primary. Includes several comments from Harvey Godwin, who was Pierce's campaign manager. Although the shooter identified by the local Sheriff's Department killed himself, many - including Godwin - still see the murder as unsolved.
