Annotation: 

Allen Coats Meadors, 51, will become chancellor of University of North Carolina at Pembroke on July 1, with an annual salary of $145,000. He had served as CEO and Dean of Pennsylvania State University at Altoona since 1994. That campus, the second largest in the Pennsylvania State University System, has over 3,800 students. Meadors' degrees include a doctorate in administration and education from Southern Illinois University and masters degrees in business administration, public administration, psychology and human relations, and health services management. 

Besides his work at Penn State--Altoona, he has also taught at Eastern Washington University, University of Oklahoma, and University of Texas; directed a radiation therapy institute; worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield; and served in the Air Force. He has Iroquois and Cherokee ancestry. One of his goals is to increase UNC-P's enrollment by marketing and by outreach programs.
