Record Number:
LOCK063
Citation:

Locklear, Eric R. “Transparency needed after HUD report alleges tribal misspending.” The Robesonian (Lumberton, NC). May 31, 2016

Annotation:

Based on a monitoring report issued to the Lumbee Tribe recently, the Lumbee Tribal Council spent $264,985.96 over a span of 24 conferences. Spending on vehicles associated with Youth Services also drew attention. Overall, Locklear believes the government needs to be more transparent in all areas. This letter pointed out that, if they are going to target the Tribal Council for hiding information, the public needed to make their information available as well.
