Biographical sketch of Gene Locklear, who played baseball for the San Diego Padres 1973-1976, winning two batting titles and MVP, then was traded to the Yankees, and retired after the 1978 season in Japan. Locklear then turned his attention to art. His specialties are Native American themes and sports figures. He has a studio in Pembroke as well as in San Diego. His works are hanging in governors' mansions, museums, the White House, the Smithsonian, and a Pete Rose restaurant in Chicago.
