After debate in Robeson County, the Atlantic Coast Pipeline has gone to court. On Friday, a petition was filed by Dwanye and Robie Joe Goins asking the Board of Commissioners to revoke the conditional use permit for the pipeline. The petitioners own property where the pipeline is schedule to end. “'Petitioner alleges that the CUP was issued without an adequate factual basis in that the applicants did not fulfill their burden to establish that the M&R Station and Tower meet the statutory criteria for issuance,' the petition reads in part. Petitioner further alleges that Respondent County did not follow required procedure for a quasi-judicial decision to grant the CUP’” (para. 6). The station and tower that have already been built are cited as possible threats to public health and safety as well as the land surrounding them.
