Annotation: 

Discusses a photographic exhibition, organized by Barbara Braveboy-Locklear, called "Pathmakers: North Carolina Native American Women of Distinction." It includes photographs of 25 women made by Mark Wagoner, owner of Mark Wagoner Fotografie in Greensboro.

The exhibition, sponsored by the United Arts Council of Greensboro, the N.C. Arts Council, and the National Endowment of the Arts, premiered at the Guilford Native Art Gallery in Greensboro and then went on tour, beginning at the Native American Resource Center, UNC-Pembroke.

Lumbee women from around the country included: Lillie Mae Jones Brewington (Lumberton), Patricia Bullard Cavan (Charlotte), Thelma Huggins (Greensboro), Gladys Hunt (Fayetteville), Eva Chavis Jones (Pembroke), Arlinda Locklear (Jefferson, M.D.), Cheryl Ransom Locklear (Pembroke), Ruth Bullard Locklear (Maxton ), Gloria Tara Morrison Lowry (Lumberton), Jessie Bell Smith Maynor (Pembroke), Jane Chavis Oxendine (Rowland), Ruth Locklear Revels (Greensboro), Helen Maynor Scheirbeck (Fairfax, V.A.), Lula Jane Locklear Smith (Cary), Dalphine Locklear Strickland (Jamestown), Rosa Revels Winfree (Charlotte), and Ruth Dial Woods (Pembroke).
