Berry, C.B. “Cherry Grove draws Indians (Area History).” The Sun News (Myrtle Beach, SC). October 3, 1998

Annotation:

According to Berry, the Lumbee Indians seem to have a special attraction to Cherry Grove in South Carolina. He states that about 40,000 people in Robeson County are Lumbee, and he says that many of them travel over 70 miles to Cherry Grove for employment regularly.

Berry then gives a brief overview of the history of the Lumbee Tribe that can be found in more detail in various other annotated entries on the site.
